One in five Canadians live with chronic pain. Access to chronic pain care continues to be a challenge in Canada. Long wait times for chronic pain care impacts all aspects of our lives. Improving access to chronic pain care, including resources that can be accessed online, is one of the top priorities identified by people who live with pain.
The Power Over Pain Portal is part of the solution. The Power Over Pain Portal is a direct response to the Action Plan for Pain in Canada that was developed by the Canadian Pain Task Force which was established to guide Health Canada toward improved prevention and management of chronic pain in Canada. Funded by Health Canada, the Power Over Pain Portal offers free, science-backed online resources for the management of pain, as well as mental health and substance use health. Resources include articles, videos, podcasts, self-directed courses, and peer support.

Who is behind the Power Over Pain Portal:
The Power Over Pain Portal is the result of a coast-to-coast Canadian collaboration of people who live with pain, clinicians, researchers, and representatives of community organizations. Led by The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, The Hospital for Sick Children, Women’s College Hospital, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute, we are all working toward the common goal of improving access to chronic pain care in Canada.
